Georgia teacher fired for naked selfies found on cell phone
Lakeshia Jones, 34, was fired from her teaching job in Georgia after students accessed her cell phone and discovered naked selfies, according to report.
Students came across the nude photos while the phone was left unattended. The students then made the decision to post the selfies on social media.
A female student eventually approached Jones about a month after the photos were originally discovered and told her about what students had done.
Georgia district officials testified that Jones gave the students her cell phone password to call home, which explains how the students accessed the phone. Jones, though, refutes that statement. Officials also testified that she did not report the incident once she found out, but instead
asked students to text social media chatter to her so she could track down the culprits herself. Jones was fired for “being irresponsible with her phone, for not properly handling or reporting the incident and for insubordination in the weeks that followed,” .However, Jones said she feels like the victim,
because what’s in her phone is her business, Jones also said the school district doesn't have a policy about the private content of cell phones. She's now suing the district and the students accused of posting the selfies.
